Waiter – Eureka 89 Events & Dining

About the role

Eureka 89 is the events and dining space on the top floor of Eureka Tower in Melbourne, run by Journey Beyond, Australia's leading experiential tourism group. It hosts corporate lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, media launches, private celebrations and weddings, and operates a public Chef's Tasting dining room. The Waiter role covers both the Altitude dining experience and event service.

Key responsibilities

• Present the restaurant and events space and welcome and seat guests
• Take guest orders and communicate effectively with the kitchen
• Memorise the menus and recommend upsells such as drinks and side plates
• Service guests for the Altitude dining experience and the 6-course Chef's Tasting menu
• Work on events ranging from weddings to corporate lunches

Required profile

• Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate of completion (required)
• Food Handling Safety certificate (essential, or willing to obtain on starting)
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, including premium dining experience
• Flexible to work casually across, and up to, seven days a week
• Working rights in Australia; a pre-employment medical may be required

Required skills

• Excellent food and beverage knowledge
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
• Ability to create, develop and service techniques for different guest needs
• Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and work collaboratively in a team
• Bartending and cocktail-making experience highly favoured
