Casual Kitchen Hand – Eureka 89

About the role

Eureka 89 is an events and dining space on the top floor of Eureka Tower in Melbourne, hosting corporate lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, media launches, private celebrations and weddings, as well as a public chef's tasting dining room. Journey Beyond, Australia's leading experiential tourism group, is looking for a casual Kitchen Hand to work in its kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in keeping the kitchen area and equipment clean and compliant with food safety guidelines
• Prepare food and support the Chefs under their supervision to deliver efficient service
• Work predominantly in the Eureka 89 kitchen, standing for long periods, near heat sources, in tight spaces and wet environments
• Lift and move stock up to 20kg and perform repetitive tasks
• Work any day of the week and public holidays, with shifts of up to 10 hours between 07:00 and 01:00

Required profile

• Food Handling Safety Certificate (essential, or willing to obtain on starting)
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, including previous kitchen hand experience
• Able to work quickly and safely with minimal supervision, and to manage time under pressure
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
• Excellent verbal communication and high fluency in English
• Entitlement to work in Australia
• A pre-employment medical and National Police check may be required
