Commis Chef – Eureka 89

About the role

Eureka 89, an events and dining space on the top floor of Eureka Tower in Melbourne, is looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join its kitchen brigade on a casual basis. The role suits a developing chef wanting to sharpen skills in a fast-paced, premium dining and events environment, working across menus, canapés, desserts, entrées and mise en place. It is supported by experienced chefs, with minimal supervision and ownership of your section.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook ingredients to a consistently high standard
• Support premium dining and event menus, including entrée, dessert, pastry and canapé preparation
• Run sections with minimal supervision and assist with the pass when required
• Produce efficient mise en place and set up kitchen stations for smooth service
• Work with the kitchen brigade, Front of House and Events teams to deliver great guest experiences
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, labelling, allergen awareness and stock rotation
• Minimise waste, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and meet WHS and operational standards

Required profile

• At least 1 year's experience in a similar kitchen role
• A formal culinary qualification, such as Commercial Cookery (or similar)
• Safe Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
• Confidence preparing ingredients and running sections independently
• Intermediate cooking skills, strong presentation standards and pride in quality food
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and a collaborative approach
• Safety-focused mindset and commitment to hygiene and continuous improvement
• Australian working rights
