Senior Fire Protection Engineer

About the role

Join AECOM's National Fire Protection Team as a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, based in Brisbane. You will design and deliver fire protection solutions across diverse sectors, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and the National Construction Code.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design from concept through construction and commissioning for large, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Design and implement fire hydrant, hose reel, automatic sprinkler, alternative suppression, gas suppression, fire detection and evacuation systems.
• Collaborate with engineers from various disciplines to develop integrated solutions for major clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence across projects.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a Fire Protection Engineer in an engineering consultancy or contractor with extensive design experience.
• Relevant degree and professional registration (or eligibility), such as RPEQ.
• Australian citizenship preferred due to project nature.

Required skills

• Design of wet and dry fire protection systems, including hydrants, hose reels, and sprinkler systems.
• Knowledge of fire detection, alarm, emergency warning, and intercom systems.
• Proficiency with industry software such as Hyena, Revizto, and preferably Revit.
• Understanding of Australian Standards, NCC compliance, and client‑specific guidelines.
