Senior or Principal Level Geotechnical Engineer – Dams

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to join its Dams team in Australia. You will work on feasibility studies, design, construction and asset management for water dams and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical analysis and design for dams, retarding basins and service basins.
• Inspect, investigate and assess condition of existing dams.
• Scope and conduct geotechnical investigations, interpret foundation conditions and characterise engineering properties of soils and construction materials.
• Provide construction support including inspection of works, evaluation of QC/QA data and reporting.
• Prepare tenders, proposals and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary degree with CPEng and RPEQ registration.
• Proven experience managing complex dam projects and delivering high‑quality outcomes.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and commercial skills with ability to build client relationships.
• Collaborative, detail‑focused professional who thrives in deadline‑driven environments.
