Associate Director – Generation & Storage

About the role

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead technical excellence for generation and storage projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will guide owners’ engineering and design for utility‑scale wind, solar, battery (BESS) and hybrid assets from pre‑feasibility through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership as Owner’s Engineer, ensuring technical assurance, verification and design governance.
• Develop and review documentation across concept, specification, procurement, design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Build trusted client relationships, run workshops, and act as a technical advisor.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering technical growth within the Generation & Storage team.
• Contribute to business development, technical methodologies, and proposal preparation.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in renewable engineering, preferably with an electrical engineering background.
• Registration on the National Engineering Register (RPEV/RPEQ) and ideally Chartered Professional Engineer status.
• Proven ability to manage complex, utility‑scale projects from concept to delivery.
• Strong client‑facing and commercial judgement skills.
