Scheme Manager

About the role

ANZ is seeking a detail‑oriented Scheme Manager to oversee the bank’s obligations across major card schemes such as Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and UPI. The role ensures end‑to‑end management of scheme releases, mandates and compliance activities, supporting both issuing and acquiring businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Lead analysis, impact assessment and delivery of scheme releases (e.g., April/October cycles) and ensure technology readiness.
• Review scheme bulletins, interpret requirements and translate them into actionable impacts across ANZ systems and processes.
• Coordinate delivery across multiple platforms including authorisation, clearing, fraud, disputes and acquiring systems.
• Manage scheme compliance obligations, track deliverables, risks and timelines.
• Own and manage scheme audits (e.g., AusPayNet, eftpos) and remediation activities.
• Respond to internal and external scheme‑related queries, providing clear guidance.
• Engage with scheme partners (Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, etc.) to clarify requirements and maintain relationships.
• Provide regular reporting on risks, issues and delivery progress to stakeholders.
• Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement in scheme management practices.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the payments industry and scheme compliance.
• Solid understanding of card schemes such as Visa, Mastercard and eftpos.
• Experience managing scheme releases, mandates and audits.
• Ability to coordinate across technology, product, operations and external partners.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
