Fraud Scam Prevention Specialist

About the role

This role sits within Customer Protection, Fraud Analytics and serves as the senior individual contributor and subject matter expert in application and origination fraud. The specialist uses advanced analytics, industry intelligence and deep fraud expertise to identify emerging fraud risks and design prevention strategies across onboarding, lending and account opening journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and optimisation of fraud prevention strategies and controls across application and onboarding journeys.
• Provide specialist fraud expertise and thought leadership to identify emerging threats, influence strategic decisions and improve fraud outcomes.
• Deliver advanced analytics, insights and recommendations that balance fraud risk, customer experience and commercial objectives.
• Partner with stakeholders across Fraud, Risk, Product, Operations and Technology to drive effective fraud risk management and support strategic initiatives.
• Build team capability through technical leadership, mentoring and promotion of best‑practice analytical approaches.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in application fraud, identity fraud and emerging fraud typologies within banking or financial services.
• Advanced analytical capability with strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Proven experience designing, implementing and optimising fraud detection and prevention strategies.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions and communicate complex insights.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex analytical initiatives and translate data into practical business outcomes.
• Experience coaching and mentoring analysts to build technical capability and analytical excellence.
