Junior Accountant – Finance Role

About the role

The Junior Accountant will support the finance function of Simon & Schuster Australia, focusing on day‑to‑day Accounts Payable, month‑end tasks and regular reporting. This entry‑level position offers exposure to publishing‑specific financial processes and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Process invoices and expense claims end‑to‑end, ensuring proper authorisation and accurate GL coding.
• Manage the daily Accounts Payable function and address creditor or staff payment queries.
• Reconcile plant costs and oversee sub‑rights administration, including communication with international publishers and cash‑receipt allocation.
• Provide monthly reporting, account reconciliation, invoice verification and rebate calculations for distribution clients.
• Prepare internal reports such as weekly Bookscan sales, daily sales, and key slicer metrics.
• Maintain the PubTrack monthly data file and load digital data into Bookmaster.
• Support ad‑hoc reporting and operational tasks as required by the finance team.

Required profile

• Accounting degree or at least two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Media or publishing experience is highly desirable.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Proactive, self‑motivated team player with the ability to work autonomously.
• High attention to detail, problem‑solving and analytical skills.
