Financial Controller – Commercial Finance & Business Performance

About the role

Varley Transport, a family‑owned transport and logistics group in Western Australia, is seeking a part‑time Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, payroll governance and driving commercial performance across multiple divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring data integrity and timely delivery of management reports.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare and analyse financial performance reports, business insights and profitability metrics.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning activities.
• Monitor transport profitability, fleet utilisation and operational performance.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to improve decision‑making and drive continuous business improvement.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in senior finance roles within transport, logistics or related industries.
• Strong commercial acumen with a focus on profitability and performance analysis.
• High level of integrity, accountability and humility.
• Ability to work flexibly across a 19‑hour per week schedule while meeting key reporting deadlines.
