Director of Sales & Marketing

About the role

Sheraton is looking for a Director of Sales & Marketing for its internal candidates. The role leads the property's sales department for hotels with more than 300 peak-room bookings and significant local catering revenue, driving booking goals, property revenues and the brand's service strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage reactive and proactive sales efforts, develop strategic account plans and set sales goals aligned with the brand's business strategy.
• Evaluate sales channels such as Area Sales, Group Sales and electronic leads, and manage the marketing budget for campaigns, promotions and collateral.
• Work with Regional Marketing Communications on regional and national promotions and on marketing communication activities.
• Monitor the market, competitors and economic trends, review the STAR report and competitive shopping reports, and suggest marketing ideas to grow occupancy and RevPAR.
• Act as the sales contact for the General Manager, property leadership, Group Sales and Area Sales, and as the property's sales liaison with other departments.
• Execute business-booked proposals, contracts and customer correspondence, and coordinate crisis communications and PR opportunities.
• Build partnerships with local organisations, attend tradeshows and client events, and serve customers before and during their programs or events.
• Lead the sales team: coach revenue-generating department heads, set goals and performance expectations, forecast talent needs, recruit and train group sales associates, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and union requirements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated skills in managing a team.
• Hospitality sales experience.
• Hotel industry experience showing progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
