Cost Controller (SAP, Fieldglass, Coupa)

About the role

The Cost Controller will be the primary steward of financial data across SAP, Fieldglass, and Coupa, ensuring accurate cost tracking and budget compliance for plant operations. This role supports maintenance and shutdown projects by providing timely cash‑flow forecasts and variance analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main user of the SAP CO module to monitor cost centre performance and internal orders.
• Administer contractor timesheets and service entries in Fieldglass, aligning rates and headcounts with contractual terms.
• Oversee the purchase‑to‑pay workflow in Coupa, ensuring requisitions are correctly coded against budgets before approval.
• Perform regular reconciliations between Coupa, Fieldglass, and SAP to maintain data consistency.
• Conduct monthly Plan vs. Actual variance analysis and develop Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports with plant managers.
• Predict monthly cash outflows based on maintenance schedules and contractor mobilisations.
• Validate complex contractor invoices against work completion evidence and field service tickets.
• Audit vendor billing for compliance with Master Service Agreement rate cards stored in Fieldglass/Coupa.
• Calculate and post monthly accruals for work performed but not yet invoiced.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of cost‑controlling experience in oil & gas, mining, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, data modelling).
• Strong analytical ability to interrogate data and challenge project managers on budget overruns.
• Excellent communication skills.
