Commercial Finance Specialist – Mining Operations

About the role

The Commercial Finance Specialist will join the Grosvenor Mine team in Moranbah, Queensland, supporting the operational leadership with financial insight and commercial analysis. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial decisions that drive the mine’s restart and long‑term performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop commercial insights and business case models to guide capital and operational decisions.
• Provide reporting tools and financial analysis to discipline managers for asset reliability, life‑cycle management and total cost of ownership.
• Collaborate on risk registers, delivering cost and capital evaluations of mitigation strategies.
• Analyse deviations from plan, identify root causes and communicate financial impacts.
• Perform cost variance assessments and recommend improvements for both capital and operating expenditures.
• Support accurate forecasting and budgeting, incorporating risks and opportunities.
• Deliver discipline‑specific financial reports enriched with operational commentary.
• Identify commercial improvement opportunities and partner with teams to implement them.

Required profile

• Postgraduate or tertiary qualification in Business Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• CA/CPA qualified or actively pursuing qualification.
• Knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation is desirable.
• Experience with integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP.
