About the role
The NRMA is seeking a passionate and experienced Child Safety Officer to lead the development and governance of child safety across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Safety, you will work collaboratively with business units to ensure compliance with National Child Safety Standards and legislative obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage a strategic Child Safety Framework aligned with legislative obligations and National Child Safe Standards.
- Design, maintain and communicate policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate child‑safe initiatives, governance activities and continuous improvement processes.
- Prepare reports and recommendations on compliance, performance and breaches for senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with Working with Children Checks, manage disclosures and maintain accurate records.
- Streamline child‑safety processes across recruitment, onboarding, movement between jurisdictions and off‑boarding.
- Coach and mentor Business Unit Child Safe representatives to build capability.
- Apply a risk‑based approach to child‑related activities and act as escalation point for complaints and incidents.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Law, Social Work, Psychology, Safety, Risk, Compliance or Child Education.
- Proven experience supporting change management initiatives in a large organisation.
- Strong understanding of National Child Safety Standards, legislation and assurance frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, research, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Required skills
- Experience developing and delivering programmes that improve organisational safety and compliance.
- Ability to create strategic communication plans, presentations and reports.
