Audit Director - Credit Risk and Models

About the role

The Audit Director – Credit Risk & Models leads Internal Audit’s specialist assurance over wholesale and retail credit risk and serves as the subject‑matter expert for model risk. Reporting to the General Manager Audit – Financial Risk & Markets, this senior position shapes risk assurance delivery across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist assurance over wholesale and retail credit risk through the Credit Risk Centre of Audit.
• Provide independent, evidence‑based assessments of governance, risk‑management frameworks and controls for credit and model risk.
• Own risk assessment and audit planning for credit and model risk, setting coverage priorities aligned with the group’s risk profile.
• Collaborate with internal audit teams to ensure consistent, risk‑focused audit coverage.
• Maintain strong relationships with senior risk stakeholders and support audit capability development.
• Contribute to Internal Audit’s strategic priorities and model the standards, behaviours and independence expected of audit leaders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit, credit risk and model risk within a large financial institution.
• Deep knowledge of prudential standards and regulatory expectations.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex risk findings clearly.
• Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
