Accountant (Part‑Time, 20‑30 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Accountant to join Normetals in Ottoway. Working 20‑30 hours per week, you will support the financial operations of a well‑established scrap‑metal recycling business and collaborate closely with the General Manager and leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) / Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and meet other statutory compliance obligations.
• Execute month‑end close activities including reconciliations, journal entries and financial reporting.
• Produce management reports and deliver financial insights to aid business decisions.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate reconciliation.
• Maintain the general ledger and uphold the integrity of financial records.
• Assist with cash‑flow management, budgeting and forecasting.
• Support payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, systems and reporting efficiency.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and other stakeholders as needed.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of accounting experience with strong month‑end, reconciliation and reporting skills.
• Detail‑oriented, analytical and able to produce accurate, timely reports.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proactive, reliable and hands‑on.
