Senior Manager Risk Governance

About the role

ANZ is looking for a Senior Manager Risk Governance to join its Customer Proposition team. The role focuses on strengthening first‑line ownership of non‑financial risk and ensuring that operational, customer and regulatory risks are identified early and managed effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational event management and root‑cause analysis using structured investigative techniques.
• Plan and implement remedial actions that address both tactical and systemic process deficiencies.
• Identify emerging risks and control gaps, and proactively mitigate them before they impact customers.
• Translate risk frameworks, policies and regulatory expectations into practical processes, controls and ways of working for business teams.
• Embed People Accountable Customer Trust (PACT) practices, ensuring strong first‑line accountability for risk identification and control effectiveness.
• Act as a key interface between business operations and assurance partners to support audit outcomes and clear risk narratives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk management within a financial services environment.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking capabilities with the ability to interrogate data and evidence.
• Proven judgment and stakeholder‑influence skills to drive change across complex, customer‑focused settings.
• Ability to develop sustainable risk solutions and embed them into day‑to‑day business activities.
