Buyer – Meat & Seafood

About the role

Metcash is seeking a Buyer for Meat & Seafood to join its fresh food team. You will work with suppliers to source quality products, negotiate deals and support independent retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase quality meat and seafood, negotiate pricing and maximise profitability.
• Plan and execute promotional campaigns and seasonal events.
• Collaborate with Retail Operations to deliver the right products, pricing and category initiatives.
• Manage stock levels, product ranges and purchasing quantities while minimising waste.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities.

Required profile

• Experience in buying, preferably within fresh food, meat, seafood or supermarket retail.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to analyse sales, margins and identify opportunities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a hands‑on approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
