Australian Tax Accountant (Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for an Australian Tax Accountant to join Sublime Accountants on a contractor basis. You will work under the director, providing tax and compliance services to a portfolio of small and medium‑sized Australian businesses using cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare BAS/IAS, tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
• Perform bookkeeping tasks, including account reconciliation and bank‑feed management in Xero.
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with Australian regulations.
• Liaise with clients to gather information, answer queries and maintain clear communication.
• Organise multiple client jobs, meet deadlines and collaborate with the director on complex returns.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in Australian tax legislation and apply them to client accounts.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in Australian tax and compliance.
• Solid accounting foundation up to the trial‑balance stage.
• Hands‑on experience with Xero and XPM.
• Good written English for client and internal communication.
• Organised and dependable when handling multiple clients and deadlines.
