Audit Director – Market Risk & Markets

About the role

The Audit Director – Market Risk and Markets will lead independent, high‑quality third‑line assurance for the Markets risk and business areas at ANZ. Reporting to the General Manager Audit – Financial Risk & Markets, the role partners closely with the Audit Director – Markets, International to ensure robust governance, risk management and control frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent audit coverage across the Markets asset class and Market Risk, including customer value chains, critical operations and regulatory‑required activities.
• Form evidence‑based assessments of governance, risk management and controls supporting customer outcomes, conduct and regulatory compliance.
• Own portfolio‑level risk assessment and audit planning, shaping coverage priorities and escalating material themes.
• Provide constructive challenge to business, risk and operations stakeholders to strengthen governance and control environments.
• Lead, develop and mentor the Australia‑based Markets audit team, building capability and professional judgement.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in Market Risk management, including APRA prudential standards, valuation, limits, stress testing and governance.
• Extensive knowledge of Markets products, trading, sales activities and critical operations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Proven experience delivering complex audits in large, regulated organisations with strong internal‑audit methodology.
• Track record of regulatory interaction with Australian regulators and preparation for supervisory reviews.
• Ability to use data analytics to inform audit scoping, testing and conclusions.
