Associate Director – Operational Risk

About the role

The Associate Director, Operational Risk will join ANZ's Institutional Non‑Financial Risk Operational Risk and Resilience Centre of Excellence. In this senior position you will help shape risk strategy, ensure compliance with frameworks and drive resilience across the Institutional division.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to the Institutional business, enabling informed decision‑making and sustainable growth.
• Partner with Enterprise Risk stakeholders to implement risk frameworks, policies and standards across the division.
• Provide oversight, challenge and insight on risk profiles, control effectiveness and change initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement of controls, tools, data and processes to raise risk‑management maturity.
• Define, monitor and promote adherence to divisional risk appetite through metrics, governance and reporting.
• Support delivery and embedding of strategic risk uplift programmes, fostering adoption of enhanced capabilities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks, regulatory requirements and risk appetite governance.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and act as a subject‑matter expert.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on improving risk controls.
