Associate and Senior Associate - Audit

About the role

EY is hiring an Associate or Senior Associate for its Audit team in Canberra – Ngambri, with the option to work locally from the Ballarat office. The role is full-time and offers flexible working arrangements, and is open to candidates based anywhere in Australia. You will work alongside experienced professionals to give clients confidence in their financial reporting through insights into accounting, financial sustainability, controls and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fieldwork, lead client relationships, manage projects, coach and mentor junior team members and keep engagement leaders updated on progress and issues.
• Design and execute audit processes, considering audit risk and accounting technical matters such as revenue recognition, fair value accounting and long-term contracts.
• Engage with client management and advise them throughout the year, including identifying areas for improvement in their business processes.
• Keep up with market trends and share knowledge to develop junior colleagues, while understanding each client's strategy and associated audit risks.

Required profile

• Accounting degree or qualification.
• Proven experience leading the planning, execution and reporting of audits.
• Australian security clearance, or the ability to obtain one (required for government audits); Australian citizenship is needed to obtain a government clearance.
• An inquisitive mind, a proven track record of building team motivation and client relationships, and excellent communication skills.
