AO5 Stakeholder Engagement Advisor (Road Infrastructure)

About the role

A Queensland Government department delivering major road infrastructure across the South Coast region is looking for an AO5 stakeholder engagement advisor based at its Nerang, Gold Coast office. You will advise project managers and directors on community engagement, media relations, issues management and public affairs, working closely with the Communications Lead and project teams from planning through to delivery. The contract starts late November, is initially 6 months with two 12-month extension options, and applications close on 4 November.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for road infrastructure projects across the region
• Develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies supporting project objectives
• Research and write media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes and other project collateral
• Advise Project Directors and managers on media, issues and crisis management, risk assessment and reporting
• Plan and manage project launches, media opportunities and community events
• Consult with interest groups and help project staff and consultants build their own engagement skills
• Ensure engagement practices comply with departmental and regional policy, legislation (including WH&S) and governance obligations

Required profile

• Solid experience in community and stakeholder engagement, ideally on road, transport or infrastructure projects
• Experience planning and running community events and project launches
• Confidence advising senior project staff on media and issues management
• Criminal history check required

Required skills

• Strong writing across media releases, ministerial correspondence and community collateral
• IAP2 training or accreditation is well regarded

• Pay of $72.50 to $78.66 per hour plus superannuation, 37.5 hours per week, PAYG
