Weekend Volunteer Social Visitor

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care on the Central Coast, is recruiting weekend volunteers to act as social visitors at its residential care homes in Erina or Woy Woy. You will spend time one-on-one or in small groups with older people, sharing a hobby, activity or just a friendly chat, and helping to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one-hour visits to residents, either alone or in small groups
• Share interests such as sports, art, gardening, pets, baking, yoga, music, movies or a chat over coffee
• Visit between 9:30am and 12:00pm or 1:00pm and 4:00pm on Saturdays or Sundays
• Weekday visits are also possible, any day between 9:00am and 4:00pm, weekly or fortnightly depending on availability

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older
• NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Commitment of one hour per week for a minimum of 6 months
• Interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours
