Theatre Manager – Perioperative Services

About the role

The Orthopaedic Institute (TOI) at Macquarie University Hospital seeks an experienced peri‑operative leader to manage the TOI theatre complex. Reporting to the Associate Director – Perioperative Services, you will provide day‑to‑day operational and fiscal coordination of a busy surgical service.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate efficient use of operating sessions, lead theatre utilisation and KPI performance in partnership with surgeons, anaesthetists and the bookings team.
• Facilitate peri‑operative patient flow, including emergency booking reallocation across operating rooms, anaesthetic bay, imaging and ICU.
• Oversee daily staffing allocations, roster development and leave coordination to meet operational needs.
• Provide professional leadership, performance management, conflict resolution and career development for the TOI peri‑operative team.
• Ensure compliance with NSW Health, ACORN, NSQHS standards and Macquarie University Health policies.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• Minimum five years post‑registration peri‑operative nursing experience, including operating theatre list management.
• Demonstrated understanding of surgical KPIs and fiscal management of a peri‑operative suite.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills with ability to align surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams.
