Registered Nurse – Cardiac & Vascular Theatre

About the role

Join Australia’s only university‑owned academic health precinct as a Registered Nurse in the Theatre department, supporting cardiac and vascular surgeries. You will work alongside leading surgeons and a multidisciplinary team in a high‑performance peri‑operative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up surgical instruments and specialised equipment for cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures.
• Perform pre‑operative safety checks and ensure compliance with peri‑operative standards and protocols.
• Provide scrub and scout support throughout surgeries, maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in on‑call rotations to deliver 24/7 surgical support.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum one year of experience as a scrub or scout nurse in cardiac and vascular surgery (respiratory/thoracic experience desirable).
• Ability to work on‑call shifts and manage competing demands in a fast‑paced surgical setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
