Technical Officer – Highways

About the role

Join AECOM's Perth highways team to deliver major transport projects, working with a strong national pipeline and a supportive ANZ technical network.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver highways design across transport infrastructure projects, including civil arrangements, geometric design, signage, PUP and safety barriers.
• Produce high‑quality drawings and models in line with RPDM, AustRoads and client standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design team members on digital design tools and workflows.
• Manage own deliverables with limited supervision while contributing to broader project outcomes.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design inputs across projects.
• Support BIM and digital engineering tools to enhance design coordination and delivery.

Required profile

• 2–6 years’ experience in highway or road infrastructure drafting, preferably on transport and civil projects.
• Strong skills in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D; exposure to MicroStation or OpenRoads is a plus.
• Good understanding of highway geometry, road design principles and drafting standards.
• Attention to detail, organisational ability and capacity to meet deadlines.
• Experience with AustRoads, Main Roads WA or similar Australian standards is advantageous.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering Drafting, Engineering Design or a related field.
