Tax & Compliance Accountant

About the role

Tyro is looking for a Tax & Compliance Accountant to work directly with customers on a wide range of tax and compliance matters. This 12‑month fixed‑term position involves reviewing bookkeeping, preparing BAS and tax returns, and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Review Tyro Accounting bookkeeping for customers requesting an accountant review.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) for standard and VIP clients.
• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Prepare financial statements as required.
• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and relevant regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Handle customer support calls regarding accounting queries and lodgement walkthroughs.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the Manager of Accounting and Tax.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (IPA, Tax Agent, BAS Agent or equivalent).
• 3+ years of proven experience in public practice as an Accountant or Tax Agent, or a similar role.
• Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Comfortable navigating multiple systems and platforms.
• Experience across a variety of industries and a collaborative mindset.
