Surgery Vet Nurse – ARH Canberra

About the role

The Animal Referral Hospital Canberra is seeking a skilled Surgery Veterinary Nurse to support specialist veterinary care. This position can be either part‑time or full‑time, offering the chance to work alongside leading veterinary specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, and post‑operative care.
• Maintain surgical suites and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
• Support anesthesia administration and monitor patient vital signs.
• Provide compassionate care and education to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure seamless patient care.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in veterinary nursing with a focus on surgical procedures.
• Strong knowledge of surgical nursing techniques and protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and be on‑call for emergencies.
