About the role
A thoughtful and highly intelligent gentleman living at home in Darlinghurst is looking for a volunteer to spend time with him. He is a passionate reader who enjoys the works of Jane Austen and other classic authors, and would like someone to read with him, discuss favourite books and share ideas. Visits provide friendship, connection and something to look forward to each week.
Key responsibilities
- Visit weekly or fortnightly, one-on-one, for 30 minutes to 1 hour
- Read with the person and discuss books, current topics and life's experiences
- Provide companionship and conversation; visits can be made any day of the week between 9:00am and 5:00pm
Required profile
- 18 years or older
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
- Enjoyment of books, thoughtful discussion and connecting with others
HammondCare is an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community. The organisation is happy to work with your availability and flexible scheduling.
