Site Manager – Commercial Construction

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead a $20M education construction project in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee day‑to‑day site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all site operations for the $20M education build, including a below‑ground basement and two‑level gymnasium.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site personnel and deliveries to align with the construction programme.
• Develop short‑term look‑ahead programmes, identify potential delays and implement solutions.
• Oversee site establishment, logistics, access, materials handling and construction sequencing.
• Maintain high safety standards and ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures.
• Monitor workmanship, quality control, and ensure works meet specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, Contract Administrator, consultants and design team to resolve site issues.
• Manage inspections, hold points, defects and quality documentation throughout the project.

Required profile

• At least 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager, preferably 8‑10 years.
• Proven track record delivering commercial projects valued at $15M–$20M+.
• Trade background in carpentry or related construction discipline with relevant qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, programme management and site logistics.
• Thorough understanding of site safety, quality assurance and construction compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead subcontractors and manage competing priorities.
