Senior URD Electrical Designer

About the role

Egis, a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy operating across Australia, is hiring a Senior URD Electrical Designer. As a member of its URD team, you will deliver detailed design and documentation for infrastructure projects, including subdivisions, public lighting, large customer connections (LCCs) and NBN pit and pipe authority relocations (electrical, communications and gas). Designs must be delivered on time and to the highest quality standards, working closely with clients, project managers and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake electrical engineering design in line with standards, scope of works and specifications
• Gather information from developers for fee calculations
• Prepare and submit works plans, council approvals and applications, and coordinate with other services and architectural features
• Facilitate supply agreements and certificates of supply
• Attend design coordination and on-site construction meetings
• Maintain safety in design documentation and provide construction-stage technical support, including tender reviews and claim certification
• Request as-built documentation and help return the Energex bond
• Assist in the training and development of employees

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Energex design and infrastructure
• Electrical engineering qualification and experience in the electrical supply industry
• Knowledge of overhead/underground distribution and/or transmission mains
• Experience with substation layout, switch rooms, earthing, transformer bays, lightning protection and related calculations (maximum demand, cable sizing, protection settings)
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, IEC standards and industry standards
• Excellent communication skills and proven leadership ability

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, Excel and Microsoft Office
• URD design principles and practices
