Senior Telecommunications Engineer

About the role

Egis Group is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to lead high‑quality design projects for Queensland utilities and beyond. The role combines technical leadership with business development in a flexible Brisbane‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver telecommunication design projects across Queensland and interstate, ensuring compliance with project and technical standards.
• Act as the technical and delivery lead for QLD utility projects, providing SME expertise in rail and transport telecommunications.
• Proactively engage existing and potential clients to identify new business opportunities and strengthen Egis’ market presence.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in telecommunications engineering design and management.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation, and client‑management skills.
• Proven ability to influence outcomes, negotiate, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• IP Networking & Security: SD‑WAN, VPN/VLANs, IP/MPLS, SR, DWDM, Cyber Security (IT/OT).
• Virtualisation & Data Centre: VMware/KVM, Stretched Clustering, Storage Replication, VXLAN.
• Industrial Automation & IoT: SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, IIoT, Industrial Protocols.
• Radio & Wireless Infrastructure: Radio/Cellular Site Design, SAED, Microwave Backhaul.
• Critical Power & Infrastructure: Telepower (DC/UPS), LV for Telecoms/Signalling, Solar/Off‑grid systems.
• Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS): Operations, Maintenance, Systems Integration.
