Trainee Telco Technical Officer

About the role

Join TasNetworks' high‑performing Telco team as a Trainee Telco Technical Officer. Over a maximum two‑year self‑paced traineeship you will gain ACMA cabling licence and trade‑specific training, progressing to a permanent skilled team member.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance on operational network equipment.
• Support installation and commissioning of local telecommunications projects.
• Assist in maintaining operational, administrative and commercial telecom equipment for regional customers.

Required profile

• Basic understanding and interest in utility or carrier telecommunications networks.
• Willingness to work safely, follow policies and procedures, and pass a pre‑employment medical.
• Physical fitness to climb towers as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of radio communications systems.
• Knowledge of optical communications systems.
• Understanding of IP and data networks.
• Experience with telephony and fibre‑optic installation and testing.
