Senior Electrical Engineer – Substation Secondary Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of substation secondary systems for transmission and distribution networks up to 500 kV. You will join Aurecon’s Transmission & Distribution team in Sydney, contributing to sustainable, carbon‑neutral power infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver advanced substation secondary systems for distribution and transmission networks (up to 500 kV).
• Ensure compliance with quality‑assurance procedures and technical standards.
• Lead and manage engineering projects within defined scopes, delivering on time and on budget.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural and primary electrical engineers.
• Support proposal development, scope definition and cost estimation.
• Provide expert technical advice to regional clients and support business growth.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.

Required profile

• Senior‑level electrical engineering experience, preferably in substation secondary systems.
• Proven ability to lead projects and work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong client‑facing skills and experience in proposal development.
• Commitment to safety, reliability and sustainability in power infrastructure.
