Senior Communications Design Engineer

About the role

Join one of Australia’s leading infrastructure and services organisations as a Senior Communications Design Engineer. You will lead technical design across the full project lifecycle for large‑scale telecommunications and communications projects in transport, defence, rail and other critical sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and undertake communications engineering design activities for wireless and fixed telecom systems.
• Develop engineering solutions, support tender submissions, and provide budget estimates.
• Provide technical guidance during procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, quality, safety and project requirements.
• Mentor and develop the engineering team’s capability and technical excellence.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience; eligible for Engineers Australia membership.
• CPEng status or willingness to attain it; Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing wireless and fixed telecommunications systems.
• Strong knowledge of radio system deployments, installation methodologies and commissioning practices.
• Experience in safety‑critical environments such as rail, defence, transport or avionics is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Proficiency with RF planning and design tools such as ATDI and iBwave.
• Hands‑on experience with wireless and fixed telecom system design.
