Senior DNS Engineer

About the role

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior DNS Engineer to lead the design, reliability, security, and performance of its enterprise and internet‑facing DNS services. The role acts as the technical authority and L3 escalation point for complex DNS issues, driving continuous improvement across architecture and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain DNS architecture, standards, and design patterns for authoritative and recursive services.
• Ensure DNS correctness, resilience, and performance under normal and failure conditions.
• Review and approve significant DNS changes and design decisions.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for intermittent failures, performance degradation, and correctness issues.
• Own DNS security design, including DNSSEC strategy and operational readiness.
• Implement policy‑based controls such as response filtering where required.
• Define telemetry and monitoring requirements (latency, response codes, error patterns, saturation).
• Improve operational readiness through diagnostics, runbooks, and failure scenario testing.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience with deep DNS expertise.
• Proven ability to act as a senior SME and technical authority in a 24×7 production environment.

Required skills

• Authoritative and recursive DNS server technologies (open‑source and commercial).
• F5 BIG‑IP DNS deployments.
• DNSSEC implementation and operational processes.
• Telemetry, monitoring, and performance diagnostics for DNS services.
• Policy‑based DNS controls and response filtering.
