Senior Commercial Accountant – Multi‑Site Childcare

About the role

As a Senior Commercial Accountant for a fast‑growing multi‑site childcare group, you will bridge financial reporting with operational performance across 35 education and care services. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will own monthly reporting, balance‑sheet integrity, regulatory lodgements, budgeting and financial analysis while supporting new centre openings and acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily bookkeeping, respond to technical accounting queries and ensure accurate processing across all Xero files.
• Review bank reconciliations, invoices, supplier bills and expense coding for correct centre allocation.
• Manage finance‑related communications, resolve escalated issues and maintain consistent transaction processing.
• Review payroll, confirm Single Touch Payroll reporting, and reconcile OWNA roster and timesheet data.
• Monitor superannuation obligations, reconcile related balance‑sheet accounts and ensure timely payments.
• Analyse debtor and creditor reports, support collections and manage outstanding accounts.
• Strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes and contribute to strategic expansion plans.

Required profile

• Experienced accountant with a commercial mindset and strong understanding of operational drivers.
• Proven ability to work across multiple entities, systems and operational teams.
• Detail‑oriented, able to manage high‑volume financial data and meet strict deadlines.
