Senior Associate, Private Enterprise Tax Advisory

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Private Enterprise Tax Advisory team in Sydney. You will work closely with Partners and Directors to deliver commercial tax advice to privately owned businesses, family groups and high‑net‑worth individuals while balancing remote work with collaborative on‑site days.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax advice on restructures, Division 7A, CGT, trust taxation, succession and estate planning, international tax and other complex matters.
• Support tax due‑diligence engagements for acquisitions, reviewing tax risks, structuring considerations and transaction impacts.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships through proactive, solution‑focused communication.
• Assist Partners and Directors with client meetings, proposals and delivery of advisory and transaction‑related engagements.
• Coach and mentor junior team members, offering technical guidance and professional development support.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or professional accreditation in Business, Accounting, Finance, Law or equivalent.
• Commenced or planning to commence a CA qualification.
• Proven experience in tax advisory within a chartered accounting or law‑firm environment.
• Excellent written and spoken communication with a commitment to high‑quality client outcomes.
• Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a deadline‑driven setting.
• Strong critical‑thinking and technical reasoning abilities.
