Purchasing Administrator / Accounts Payable Officer

About the role

The university in Sydney is looking for a Purchasing Administrator who will also handle accounts payable duties. This hybrid role supports the procurement function while ensuring accurate invoice processing and supplier management. You will work within a collaborative finance team and contribute to system improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain supplier onboarding and vendor master data.
• Process purchase orders, provide PO support to internal stakeholders, and perform three‑way matching.
• Handle invoice receipt, verification, and reconciliation.
• Update and maintain purchasing system data, ensuring compliance with university policies.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries promptly.
• Assist with finance system enhancements and implementation activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience in procure‑to‑pay, purchasing administration, or accounts payable.
• Strong understanding of purchase orders, supplier onboarding, invoice processing and reconciliations.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent organisational abilities.
• Proactive, customer‑focused team player.
• Experience in a large, complex organisation such as higher education is advantageous.

Required skills

• Oracle (experience highly regarded).
