Project Manager – Automation & Materials Handling

About the role

HMPS is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke automation and materials‑handling projects at Adelaide Airport. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will oversee multiple customer projects from initiation through to handover, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of several projects, meeting scope, budget, timeline and quality targets.
• Develop, maintain and communicate detailed project plans and schedules.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Service and external suppliers.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, resolve issues and implement mitigation strategies.
• Control project budgets, forecast costs and ensure financial performance.
• Serve as the primary customer contact, providing regular updates and managing expectations.
• Facilitate inter‑departmental meetings, track actions and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Handle scope changes, variations and change requests with proper documentation and approvals.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports and handover packages.
• Support installation, commissioning and project close‑out activities, including financial reconciliation and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Project Management, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing complex projects in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong organisational, planning and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
