Project Cost Controller

About the role

Queensland Hydro is seeking a Project Cost Controller to support the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage project. The role will ensure effective cost management, forecasting and reporting to help deliver sustainable energy infrastructure for Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor monthly cost performance, conduct variance analysis and report to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project teams to control budget utilisation and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Allocate commitments to appropriate control accounts and ensure proper delegations.
• Track actual project costs, produce risk‑assessed cost forecasts and update forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain accurate accounting records with supporting documentation in line with legislation and best practice.
• Ensure cost‑control activities comply with PMO frameworks and guidelines.

Required profile

• Formal qualification in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Construction or Commerce.
• 5+ years experience establishing program baseline cost plans, including risk and contingency, on major infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience monitoring and reporting on program budgets within a PMO environment.
• Ability to prepare and present key program and project milestones.
• Strong communication skills and ability to oversee contractor reports.
