Project Accountant

About the role

The Project Accountant will provide accurate and timely accounting support for the Western Downs Digital Park project, a major multi‑year digital infrastructure development in Queensland. Based in Brisbane, you will work closely with project teams to maintain financial records and ensure robust reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for the project and related Australian entities, ensuring proper coding of transactions.
• Process and reconcile project expenditure, invoices, purchase orders, payments, journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and prepare supporting schedules for cash movements and inter‑company transactions.
• Support month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, including reconciliations, journals and variance analysis.
• Prepare project‑spend reports, track actual costs against budgets and forecasts, and assist with GST/BAS compliance.

Required profile

• At least five years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in property development, infrastructure, construction or similar project‑based environments.
• Demonstrated ability to handle detailed project data, investigate discrepancies and follow issues to resolution.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing deadlines in a fast‑moving project setting.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting systems capable of handling large volumes of transaction data.
