Director, Economic Climate Finance

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking a senior economics practitioner to join its Economics and Financial Consulting team in Australia. The Director will help grow the Government and Business Economics practice, focusing on climate‑related finance and ESG initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and prepare client reports and analysis through independent work and teamwork.
• Contribute to projects ensuring client needs are met within timelines and budgets.
• Support business development targeting State Government and industry verticals such as climate, mining, transport, water, construction and energy.
• Prepare project budgets and proposals for prospective clients.
• Cultivate strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
• Maintain up‑to‑date client and internal resource records via FTI’s financial systems.
• Stay current with developments in Australia’s policy and business environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related discipline; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
• 6‑9+ years of professional experience, preferably in consulting.
• Working knowledge of AASB S2 and IFRS S2 climate‑related financial disclosure reporting.
• Experience in ESG and sustainability reviews, climate finance, and ESG credit scorecards.
• Exposure to carbon credit markets and structuring green/blue financial instruments.
• Strong financial modelling, project finance modelling, valuations and funding arrangement skills.
• Proven ability to manage projects from concept to final report and to lead teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical attention to detail, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and FTI offices.
