Principal Consultant – Executive Search

About the role

Underwood Executive is seeking an experienced Principal Consultant to lead executive and leadership appointments across South Australia. You will partner with Boards, CEOs and senior leadership teams, guiding assignments from initial discussion through to successful appointment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client briefings, shape search strategies, and manage the full lifecycle of executive appointments.
• Conduct market mapping, engage senior candidates, assess leadership capability and present recommendations.
• Maintain professional, discreet relationships with both clients and candidates throughout each assignment.
• Provide advisory counsel to Boards and executive teams on leadership requirements and organisational fit.

Required profile

• Proven experience in executive search or senior talent acquisition, preferably handling C‑suite and board‑level roles.
• Strong commercial judgement, ability to read people and communicate considered advice.
• Comfortable navigating sensitive appointments and engaging candidates who are rarely active in the market.
