Principal Advisor – HR Leadership

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established Queensland government department as a Principal Advisor, leading a small team of HR Business Partners and shaping the organisation's culture and employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of HR Business Partners and provide practical, solutions‑focused people advice to leaders across the department.
• Support leaders through complex and sensitive matters such as performance management, health and rehabilitation, workplace conduct, organisational change and workforce initiatives.
• Coach, mentor and develop both senior leaders and the HR team to build capability and confidence in managing people.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing complex people matters including performance, conduct and medical issues.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence and coach leaders at all levels.
• Broad HR experience across multiple disciplines with a focus on delivering positive people and business outcomes.

Required skills

• Technical HR expertise in performance management, employee health and rehabilitation, conduct investigations and change management.
