Placement Support Planning & Kinship Manager

About the role

The Placement Support Planning & Kinship Metro unit provides out‑of‑home care support and placement planning for children. Reporting to the Manager Care Services, the Manager will lead services across North East Melbourne and the Hume‑Merri‑bek areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage placement referrals for children and young people in out‑of‑home care.
• Arrange alternative placements for children already in care.
• Monitor and support existing placements to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Coordinate the work of Health and Education Assessment Coordinators, Kinship Engagement Workers and Permanent Care Practitioners.
• Build and sustain partnerships within the department and across the service system.
• Strategically design and develop departmental objectives aligned with statewide goals.
• Investigate and lead projects to improve policies, standards and operating practices.
• Forge strong connections with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Australian citizen, permanent resident or holder of a valid work permit/visa.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment screening, including a national police check and misconduct screening.
