Part‑time Early‑Career Cardiologist (0.1 FTE)

About the role

Macquarie University Health is seeking an early‑career General Cardiologist for a part‑time, fixed‑term position (0.1 FTE) in the WISE Emergency rapid access Cardiology outpatient clinic. The role starts in February 2027 and combines clinical duties with opportunities for academic training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide rapid‑access cardiology assessments and management for patients referred from emergency.
• Supervise and report cardiac investigations such as ECG, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, stress ECG and stress echocardiography.
• Advise WISE Emergency physicians on patient care and arrange hospital admissions when needed.
• Participate in a low‑burden on‑call roster, delivering inpatient cardiology consults supported by registrars and JMOs.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical governance, audits and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Medical registration with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology (or equivalent).
• Early post‑fellowship experience in general cardiology, especially in emergency or acute care settings.
• Current or planned PhD, clinical or research fellowship, with capacity to maintain regular clinical practice.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams and patients.

Required skills

• Competence in performing and interpreting ECGs.
• Proficiency with echocardiography and stress echocardiography.
• Experience with Holter monitoring and stress ECG testing.
