Part-Time Kitchen Steward

About the role

A part-time Kitchen Steward is needed at the Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill hotel, which has recently opened its Parklands Social restaurant. The role keeps the kitchen clean, safe and organised so the chefs can focus on cooking, and supports the team during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, pots and pans and work areas.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and make sure everything is cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, storage areas and dishwashing stations.
• Support the kitchen team with the cleaning and organisation of equipment and supplies.
• Ensure clean crockery, cutlery and equipment are available when needed.
• Assist with waste management and recycling in line with hotel procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly, especially during busy periods.

• Team-first mindset and willingness to support colleagues.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety and hygiene practices.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Previous experience in kitchen stewarding, commercial cleaning or a similar role is highly regarded.
