Legal Officer – Health Law Specialist

About the role

The Legal Officer will join the Legal Services Directorate of the Northern Sydney Local Health District, providing expert legal advice on health‑law matters. Working closely with the Director of Legal Services and senior executives, you will help protect the district’s interests while developing your own legal expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, advise and report on a broad range of legal issues affecting the health service.
• Monitor significant legal matters to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
• Provide urgent legal advice to executives and staff without legal training.
• Support the Legal Services Directorate with additional business activities as required.
• Travel to district sites as needed to address local legal matters.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years post‑admission experience (PAE).
• Preferable experience in health law and public sector legal advice.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver urgent, high‑quality legal advice.
• Strong communication skills for advising non‑legal executives.
• People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
